A ski and balneological resort called "Vereyar" will be built in Karelia, on the shore of Lake Munozero in the Spasskaya Guba village of the Konдоzhsky district. The opening of the all-season resort is planned for 2030, according to the official portal of Karelia.

An agreement on the implementation of the investment project was signed at the venue of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum between the government of the republic and LLC "Gornoluzhnyi recreational balneological resort "Spasskaya guba."

"For Karelia, the development of tourism is a priority strategic task, and we are pleased that we have managed to attract such a large-scale and interesting project to create an all-season resort of world level with a focus on ski and spa infrastructure. The opening of the resort will provide additional income to the republic's budget in several billion rubles," quotes the portal from the head of the region, Artur Parfenchikov.

It is expected that "Vereyar" will receive 280 thousand tourists a year.

The total area of the complex will be five thousand hectares and will include hotels, cottages, townhouses. The project provides for 40 km of ski slopes, 14 ski lifts. Guests will be offered 250 different therapeutic and recreational procedures.

There are two health care institutions near the resort. One of them is the Marcial Waters sanatorium, founded by Peter the Great in 1719 based on iron-rich mineral springs. The second is the Kivach clinic, a health-preventive institution specializing in the provision of medical services of a wide profile. Thus, a medical cluster will be created in Karelia, including three popular tourist objects, notes the portal.

The volume of investments in the project is 21 billion rubles.

According to Parfenchikov, the government of Karelia considers the project as the anchor resident of the special economic zone of tourist-recreational type "Spasskaya Guba."

"Today, we are already preparing an application for the creation of a SEZ. A special legal regime for investors, tax benefits, and large-scale development of engineering infrastructure are planned on the territory," said the head of the republic.
