The Center for Industrial Progress museum complex will be created in the industrial city of Vyksa, Nizhny Novgorod Region. As reported by The Art Newspaper Russia, the project has entered a new phase.

“The architectural concept has been approved, and now the specialists are starting to develop technical documentation. The complex is scheduled to open in 2027, but its appearance can already be imagined now,” the newspaper writes.

The center will be located on the territory of the historic Verkhnevyksa iron foundry and ironworks. As The Art Newspaper Russia notes, this production was founded in the 18th century. Since 1999, local enterprises have been part of the United Metallurgical Company (OMK).

According to the report, OMK has begun developing and implementing a major investment project that involves the renovation of a historic industrial area and the construction of an industrial Shukhov Park in this area.

The fact is that the history of Vyksa is closely connected with the name of the outstanding engineer Vladimir Shukhov. According to the publication, a water tower over 30 meters high, which became the prototype of the famous TV tower on Shabolovka, and a sheet-rolling shop of innovative design were built here according to his project.

“Since Vyksa is the custodian of Shukhov’s heritage, it was decided to name the park in his honor, especially since its objects will be moved here after restoration,” the article says.

According to Natalia Shcherbakova-Yunitskaya, head of OMK cultural projects, the museum should become one of the central elements of the park. “The museum will present metal as the DNA of human civilization. The exposition will tell the history of the development of mankind through the history of the development of metal, ” she is quoted as saying by The Art Newspaper Russia.
