The coastal city of Porbandar in the Indian State Gujarat is in the process of turning the Gosabara-Mokarsagar wetland into a sustainable eco-tourism destination. The wetland is one of the most thriving sites in Porbandar in terms of nature and wildlife.

Porbandar, situated on the Arabian Sea coast, is not a very oft-visited destination in Gujarat. However, that may change once the city has a dedicated ecotourism destination.

The Gujarat state government plans to develop the Gosabara-Mokarsagar wetland complex in order to draw more tourists to the city, especially wildlife and nature enthusiasts. They believe that by doing so, they will be able to control the increasing salinity of the water and create and improve habitat for the resident as well as migratory birds. Keeping a check on the salinity of the water will improve the availability of irrigation water, thus benefiting the people as well. The aim is to go for a sustainable eco-tourism destination.
