Unusual eco-hotel will open its doors to tourists in 2022 in Finland. As EcoTourism Expert has learned, a feature of the Arctic Blue Resort, which will be built from environmentally friendly materials in a resort area 450 km from Helsinki, will be that the cost of living in it will depend on the carbon footprint of the client.

The owner of the hotel promises that if the tourist limits the consumption of electricity and water, chooses dishes from organic products, the price of accommodation in the hotel can be reduced by half.

In case the client decides to plant a tree in the area adjacent to the hotel building, he is entitled to an additional discount of 5%.

However, the choice of vehicle will not be taken into account in the carbon balance of the guest.

According to experts, the share of international and domestic tourism accounts for 8% of total emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The calculations took into account both the provision of accommodation, food and transport, as well as entertainment and shopping.
