Crimea is ready for a massive flow of tourists, whose number this year may exceed 8 million people. According to the head of the republic, Sergey Aksenov, “taking into account the fact that a number of countries have been closed, we will receive the main flow of tourists to the territory of the republic, so the plans will even be overfulfilled.”
Even more optimistic is the assessment of the head of the Crimean branch of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Boris Zelinsky& According to him, about 8 million people will come to Crimea. So far, all forecasts are justified, since already in the first ten days of May, Crimea received a record number of tourists for the entire post-Soviet period. According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Kazakhstan, from April 29 to May 10, 520 thousand people came to the peninsula, which is 72% higher than the level of 2019. The flow of autotourists has also grown - this year it is 19% higher than last year.
The guests were received by about 700 officially registered resort complexes and hotels, the average occupancy of which was 70%, and in some regions even exceeded 80-85%. The peninsula's five-star hotels were 95% occupied, four-star hotels were occupied for 90%, and three-star hotels - for more than 75%.
In 2018, the region was visited by 6.8 million people, in 2019 - 7.4 million tourists. In 2020, the season began later than usual due to a pandemic, nevertheless, more than 6.3 million people have visited Crimea.
