The creation of a sports cluster was discussed at an expanded meeting with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, Presidential Aide Igor Levitin, Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin, Head of the Talent and Success Foundation Elena Shmeleva, as well as heads of 16 sports federations.
Coastal and mountain Olympic facilities, new facilities and scientific and educational programs will be united under the management of the Talent and Success Foundation (rus. - «Талант и успех»). As part of the creation of the cluster, two existing stadiums will be refurbished. Speed skating "Adler-Arena" will be transformed into a full-size 400-meter transformer track and field athletics stadium.
"The potential carrying capacity of the sports cluster is more than 500 thousand people a year. These are children and adults, youth, amateurs and sports professionals. We combine the Olympic infrastructure and the competencies of the Fund and its partners in order to build a systematic work on the training of national teams, trained specialists, create conditions for mass physical education and sports on the federal territory", - said Elena Shmeleva, head of the Talent and Success Foundation.
Control over the implementation of the strategy for the development of the sports cluster, the expertise of sports, educational and research programs, scientific, methodological and analytical support, the development of recommendations and advisory functions will be assigned to the Expert Council of the cluster.
