The "City of Sand Sculptures" festival took place in the 300th Anniversary Park of St. Petersburg from August 24 to September 8. It was attended by over 200,000 visitors. This was reported on its website by the administration of the Northern capital. Anyone could vote for their favorite sculpture in the VK group Visit-Peterburg.
“According to the voting results of the residents and guests of our city, the work “Pushkin and Tsoi” (sculptors - Ivan Zverev from Nev'yansk and Dmitry Klimenko from Rostov-on-Don) won,” the message says.
The top three works also included "Maritime Capital" (created by Dmitry Glebezdov and Viktor Gogolin from Arkhangelsk, Dmitry Klimenko from Rostov-on-Don) and "The Whole Family in Petersburg" (author Artem Karamyшев from Chelyabinsk).
The competition featured works by the best masters of Russia, participants in international competitions, European and world champions from Arkhangelsk, Kargopol, Izhevsk, Chelyabinsk, Rostov-on-Don, Ufa, Nev'yansk, and Yekaterinburg. The sculptors captured in the sand images related to the history, modernity, and development of St.Petersburg, as well as the life and work of famous people associated with the city.
“The ‘City of Sand Sculptures’ not only demonstrated the talent of the masters but also drew attention to the 300th Anniversary Park of St. Petersburg, an object of new tourist geography and a popular recreation spot, filling it with original content. It was not just a festival but a real cultural platform that united many people,” the administration noted.
