Borders of the Ladoga Skerries National Park will be officially approved

“The project has been prepared to update the legal regime of this protected area,” the agency explained.

As noted in the message, the national park was created by a decree of the Russian government in 2017. At the same time, the boundaries of the natural area were not established in the document, and the coordinate description of their location was not approved. Only the municipal districts of the Republic of Karelia were indicated, within the boundaries of which the protected areas are located, the total area of the national park and the categories of lands that are part of the specially protected area - 122 thousand hectares.

According to the results of land management work carried out in 2020-2021 in the Ladoga Skerries to include the boundaries of the national park in the Unified State Register of Real Estate, a deficit was revealed both in the total area of ​​the territory of this protected area, and a discrepancy in the areal characteristics of the land categories included in its composition.

“In this regard, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, together with the government of the Republic of Karelia, has carried out work to clarify the boundaries of the territory in order to bring the actual area to the characteristics established in the act on the creation of protected areas,” the ministry said.

The draft order prepared by the ministry is posted on the federal portal of draft regulatory legal acts.

The main task of establishing the boundaries of Russian protected areas is the preservation of existing and restoration of disturbed natural and historical-cultural complexes and objects. However, in addition to this, a clear definition of the contours of management and land use of citizens living both in protected areas and adjacent territories is of great importance, the ministry emphasized.
