The XI "Opera Open" festival has kicked off in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
The opening of the music festival was entrusted to Honored Artist of Russia Aida Garifullina. The world-class star performed at the ancient theater accompanied by the choir and orchestra of the Plovdiv State Opera. "Opera Open" will run until September 15th.
This year, the festival's slogan is "Opera is Here!". Within the framework of the musical marathon, the audience will be presented with two premieres of the Plovdiv Opera House: Bizet's "Carmen" and Prokofiev's ballet "Romeo and Juliet".
Fans of Verdi's work can look forward to an updated version of the opera "Aida", as well as a medley "Viva Verdi",composed of the most famous arias of the Italian composer.
In addition to the Russian soprano with a magnificent voice, the famous mezzo-soprano Lyubica Vranes from Serbia,tenor from Portugal Carlos Cardoso and Polish bass Daniel Miroslav will perform on the ancient stage of Plovdiv.
In memory of the centenary of the death of Giacomo Puccini, a production of the opera "Turandot" will be shown with the participation of Russian tenor Khachatur Badalyan and Plovdiv Opera soloist Tanya Ivanova.
Traditionally, a large number of tourists come to the city for the opera seasons in the ancient theater of Plovdiv. In addition to the highest level of skill of the performers, the audience is attracted by the opportunity to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the times of Trajan. The Plovdiv theater, built in the first century AD and perfectly preserved to this day, can accommodate from five to seven thousand spectators. And they are all filled.
