Beaches closed in Sochi due to bad weather

On the night of June 14, due to a heavy downpour in the resort, the Matsesta River overflowed its banks, as a result of which six streets and roads were flooded, and the gas pipeline was damaged. The work of public transport was disrupted, due to flooding there was a congestion situation. 184 people and 42 pieces of equipment were involved in the elimination of the consequences. There are no data on casualties. The Sochi administration has begun door-to-door rounds to assess the damage suffered by residents.

- Today we decided to temporarily close the beach areas until the weather is fully restored. Bathing is prohibited in order to ensure the safety of vacationers, said the head of the city of Sochi Alexei Kopaygorodsky.

On June 14, a storm warning continues to operate in the region, precipitation is predicted in Sochi.
