The press service of the "Land of the Leopard" National Park reported that the Far Eastern Marine Reserve has not been affected by the mass bloom of algae in the Amur Bay. Unusual white-yellow streaks, foam, and slime were found off the coast of Vladivostok. In this connection, protected area staff intensified observation of the water area from the cordons and in the bays.
"As a result, no concentrations of algae uncharacteristic of the water area were observed. Stable currents in the bay prevent the spread of algae masses to the south of Vladivostok, where the reserve is located," - the message says.
Specialists are monitoring the situation and note that at the moment there is no threat to the unique ecosystem and its inhabitants. The waters remain pristine and transparent.
According to scientists, the bloom of dinoflagellates is a natural phenomenon. However, this year it has taken on a massive effect. The concentration of a large amount of polysaccharides in the surface layer of the water area can lead to the death of individual species of marine animals, however, the natural balance should soon be restored.
"It is important to note that sewage does not enter the water area of the reserve, and there are no other types of anthropogenic impact, which allows the local bays to remain pristine," - the press service emphasized.
