The Buzuluksky Bor National Park is launching a new project - its own greenhouse tree nursery. For these purposes, it is necessary to collect about 600 kg of cones before the end of the year, according to the park's website.
“Creating your own forest nursery is the only way to provide the park with planting material with the best quality characteristics, since the use of seedlings from other regions is impractical due to their low survival rate in the natural conditions of the forest,” said Andrey Latypov, director of the national park, whose words are quoted in the message.
In one season, up to a million seedlings can be grown in the new forest nursery - this number should be enough for Buzuluksky Bor to fulfill the annual plan for reforestation. The first seedlings will go to the Samara part of the national park next fall - to the site of the big fire in 2021.
