Norilsk Nickel’s press service announced that its subsidiary has released another batch of young, valuable fish species into the Yenisei River. In a single day, the Norilsk-Taimyr Energy Company released 350,000 fry.

The Yenisei River restocking project is being carried out in accordance with an agreement with Rosrybolovstvo (Federal Agency for Fishery). The goal of the program is to fully restore aquatic biological resources and maintain them at a level that ensures maximum sustainable fishing and biodiversity preservation.

This year, it is planned to release 3 million fry. From 2033 to 2050, the energy company will release 510 million specimens of young valuable fish species into the water bodies of the Norilo-Pyasinsk lake and river system, including sturgeon, muksun, chir, omul, and nelma.

Vladimir Voronkov, the head of projects at NTEC, noted that according to studies, the sturgeon population is recovering very slowly. He also expressed confidence that the company's systematic work in the Yenisei basin and in the water bodies of the Norilo-Pyasinsk system will lead to the growth and development of the population.

The company reminded that Norilsk Nickel supports biodiversity and increases the number of rare and valuable species in the regions of its presence to reduce the impact of production on nature. The company annually allocates tens of millions of rubles for the implementation of a large-scale fish stocking program.
