The Leo.Run trail race will take place on June 15 in the habitats of the rarest cat on the planet - the recreational zone of the Land of the Leopard National Park in the Khasansky district of Primorsky Krai. This is reported by the tourist portal of the region Visit Primorye.
"Hundreds of people from all over the country have a unique opportunity to touch the wild nature and beautiful landscapes, as well as the opportunity to be involved in an important mission. Part of the funds from ticket sales will be used to preserve and restore the world's only population of the Far Eastern leopard," the message says.
Runners will have access to distances of 3, 5, 10, 15 and 22 km. The total climb will be 900 meters.
Both amateur and professional athletes can take part in the competition.
According to the portal, the race will take place on one of the most beautiful tourist routes of Primorye - "Semiverstka", which is distinguished by picturesque views of the Amur Bay and the bridges of Vladivostok.
"This is an economic zone, and therefore the key habitats of the park's inhabitants will not be disturbed," the message emphasizes.
Guests and participants of the sports festival can relax the day before at the Leopard Lands Hotel near the starting point, as well as visit eco-trails and go on excursions.
The National Park "Land of the Leopard" is a unique territory where a population of the rarest Far Eastern leopard was saved from extinction. During the work of the national park – since 2012 – the population has grown to 125 individuals, the portal reports.
