According to the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova, along the Azov-Black Sea coast, the eastern and northern borders of Ukraine, part of the national parks ended up in a humanitarian crisis zone due to the problems with food delivery for animals and birds there, for example, the biosphere reserve "Askania- Nova", national natural parks "Azov-Sivashsky", "Dzharylgachsky" and others.

"In the regions of Ukraine, where active hostilities continue, a large number of missiles and unexploded ordnance have accumulated. This poses a threat to both human life and the environment for many years. Natural ecosystems suffer from fortification construction, damage by explosions, military transport, fires," the official states.

According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, hostilities are being conducted on the territory of 900 objects of the natural reserve fund with an area of 12,406.6 square km (1.24 million ha), which is about a third of the area of the natural reserve fund of Ukraine.
