From 18 to 27 August, the resort will host the Rosa Khutor. Classic". The event is the successor to the 1st Sochi Classical Music Festival, which took place at various venues in Greater Sochi in August 2022 and became a landmark for the region: for the first time, the audience was presented with an opera in the mountains at an altitude of 1050 m. This year, the Rosa Khutor. Classics” became the winner of the second grant competition and received support from the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
The festival will be held at several concert venues of the Rosa Khutor resort and will present a large-scale program. The performances will be attended by world stars of opera and ballet.
The festival will open with a two-day show of the new dramatic ballet with elements of the rock show The Master and Margarita directed by Sergei Polunin, which premiered in March 2023 in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Residents and guests of the south of Russia will see the performance for the first time on the stage of the Rosa Hall concert and theater complex.
The Sochi Symphony Orchestra under the direction of the artistic director of the festival Alexei Aslanov will be responsible for the musical part of the project. Chamber concerts dedicated to the 150th anniversary of S. V. Rachmaninov will be held on Rose Square in front of the town hall. One of the main works of the great composer - "All-Night Vigil" - will be accompanied by the singing of the choir of the consort "Gamajun". The series of performances on the square will be completed by the Concert of soloists of the St. Petersburg House of Music (artistic director S. P. Roldugin).
In the final days of the festival, the audience will be treated to the premiere performance of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot on the open stage of Laizo Park, Rosa Khutor.
