The Lapland Nature Reserve in the Murmansk region has launched night excursions during the polar day. The excursions, starting from 7 to 9 p.m. and lasting until 2-3 a.m., offer a unique opportunity to observe nature under the setting sun.

The new trail is called the Lapland Circumnavigation. During a walk along the 10 km long route, guests of the reserve have the opportunity to spend more time in the tundra and see animals. Excursions are held from the second half of June to the end of July.

The Lapland Nature Reserve, established in 1930, is one of the largest protected areas in Northern Europe and the first nature reserve beyond the Arctic Circle. Its area is 278,435 hectares.

For the past 20 years, the reserve has been supported by the Norilsk Nickel company. Thanks to this cooperation, the number of deer has increased significantly, and now the population numbers more than 1,000 individuals. The reserve is home to various animals: moose, brown bears, wolves, foxes, wolverines, as well as 80 species of birds and about 1,500 species of insects.
