The expedition of Clean Arctic volunteers to Cape Chelyuskin will start on August 30 from Arkhangelsk, said Andrey Nagibin, head of the Clean Arctic public project.

The volunteers will travel to the northernmost point of Eurasia on the Mikhail Somov scientific expedition vessel for more than two weeks.

According to Nagibin, the expedition to Cape Chelyuskin is the most difficult in the history of the Clean Arctic project, preparation for it lasted almost a year. The first expedition is designed for almost two months. According to preliminary estimates, there may be up to 40,000 barrels of fuel on Chelyuskin.

The Clean Arctic Public Environmental Project has been cleaning up the northern territories since 2021. In the field of view of the volunteers is the legacy that remained from the USSR. Over three seasons, the project's volunteers collected a total of 12,000 tons of waste.
