The press service of the "Clean Arctic" project announced that the names of the 20 finalists of the all-Russian "Ticket to the Arctic" contest have been revealed. The finalists include students and researchers from Vladivostok, Moscow, St.Petersburg, and Tomsk. They will present their projects on September 11th at the "Atom" pavilion at VDNKh in Moscow.
The finalists were selected from over 450 applicants. They were chosen for their innovative solutions for Arctic development. Before reaching the finals, the contestants successfully completed a test and an interactive quest, during which they learned about the opportunities of the Arctic region. They also proposed solutions to case studies from the contest's business partners. For example, they conducted a comparative analysis of oil and gas fields, designed a hangar for a helicopter in extreme cold conditions, and developed a route for the nuclear icebreaker "Arktika" in the Kara Sea.
Ten winners of the contest will embark on a scientific expedition to the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The expert jury of the contest includes scientists from the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences,the Kola Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI), the O.Yu. Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the world-class research and education center "Russian Arctic", the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov (SAFU), and the coordinating center "Floating University" based on MIPT.
