In the heat people do not stay in the south, they want to relax in the North, where it is comfortable and cool. Global warming also creates additional competitive advantages for the development of tourism in the Far North, said the adviser to the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Christopher Konstantinidi.

"People do not want to be in the south during the peak of summer, in the heat they want to relax in the North, where it is comfortable and cool. Many, on the contrary, go for the cold. The trend is when Arabs come to Moscow. This is an opportunity to get an international tourist here in the North," he told reporters.

According to Konstantinidi, interest in the Arctic has grown markedly in recent years: the Arctic destination accounts for five percent of the total tourist flow. To attract tourists, each region of the Arctic must be recognizable: it is necessary to present gastronomy and unique territories, the expert pointed out.
