Russia designed a liner for Arctic cruises

The Almaz Marine Design Bureau(part of the United ShipbuildingCorporation) has developed a project for the Kunashir Arcticcruise liner.

The vessel, which is based on the serial icebreaker project 23550, is designed for sea cruises andpassenger transportation in the Arctic seas with the possibility of landing on an unequipped shore, iceand uninhabited islands.

The liner can be used on expedition,research or cruise flights in theArctic, Antarctica and circumpolarregions. Cabins from 22 to 59 squaremeters are provided for passengers:from standard to luxury class with a loggia. The project providescomfortable conditions fortravelers, provides entertainmentinfrastructure, as in ordinarycruises.

The passenger capacity of the vessel is 74 people, the crew is 55people. The length of the liner is 112meters, the width is 20 meters. TheKunashir is able to overcome ice up to 1.7 meters thick and stay inautonomous navigation for up to 35days, ixbt.com notes.
