The collection of signatures of Alaska natives has been organized under a petition to the state authorities demanding to protect them from the breeding population of muskoxen, writes the online resource change.org.

According to the author of the convention, stemming from an ineffective hunting and conservation strategy, muskoxen have become an invasive species dangerous and lethal to humans. As ways to solve the problem, it is proposed to shoot aggressive muskoxen and drive the herd away from settlements.

Muskoxen are a prehistoric arctic land mammal that disappeared in Alaska by the early 1900s. Since the reintroduction of this species in the 1930s (specifically in the Bering Strait Region in the 1970s), their existence their existence began to threaten man.
