More than 30 tons of waste were collected in two days by volunteers of the Clean Arctic project in Yakutia

The project's volunteers cleared the Arctic territories in the villages of Batagai and Eshaya in two days Verkhoyansky district, collecting more than 30 tons of waste.

According to Andrey Nagibin, head of the Clean Arctic Project office, Yakutia is one of the most active regions. Every year, the republic shows good results in terms of the number of volunteers and the volume of waste collected. "In Yakutia, thanks to the efforts of our volunteers, recycling will be completed in the near future petroleum products on the abandoned ship Dnepr," Nagibin said. 

This year, the "Clean Arctic" will cover five settlements of Yakutia: Tiksi settlements, Deputatsky, Batagai and Esse-Khaya, as well as the village of Saskylakh of Anabar district. During the three years of the Clean Arctic project, about 850 tons of scrap metal were collected in Yakutia, an area of 31 hectares was cleared, and more than 300 volunteers took part in the clean -up.
