Zambia has launched an “aggressive” campaign to market its tourism potential in Brazil, according to media reports.
The southern African country’s Ambassador to Brazil, Alfred Kansembe was quoted by CGTN Africa as saying that the embassy had started a “routine” marketing of the tourism sector to corporate and higher learning institutions in the South American country.
The ambassador said they had to date convened meetings with corporations and universities in Brazil to woo them to visit Zambia and experience the country’s tourism potential.
The embassy also revealed that plans were underway for the holding of a tourism expo in Brazil this year to market the country’s tourism potential.
Travel and Tourism was Zambia fastest-growing national economic sector in 2018 as it contributed $1,8 million (ZMK19.4 billion) to national economy.
The sector also contributed 6.3% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2018.
Zambia shares the mighty Victoria Falls and Lake Kariba with neighbouring Zimbabwe.
