The directorate of the "Land of the Leopard" nature reserves for the first time began winter feeding of ungulates in the Ussuriysky nature reserve, where the rarest Far Eastern leopard is planned to be reintroduced. The spotted predator has not been seen in these places since the 1930s. Nevertheless, this territory is included in the historical range of the Far Eastern leopard. The Amur tiger is also protected here.

"Land of the Leopard" holds feeding activities on its territory every year after snow falls. The fact is that deep snow can deprive ungulates of the opportunity to get food, which is fraught with hunger and death. In this case, those who feed on ungulates, such as leopards, may also suffer.

In the National Park "Land of the Leopard" there are 80 forest "canteens". For ungulates, 300 rolls of soy straw, 20 tons of corn and 10 tons of oats were purchased.

"This year was the first time when top dressing was organized in the Ussuri State Reserve. Spotted deer, roe deer and wild boars will be able to find reserve food at twelve feeding grounds. Experts have found that this is enough to supply the "emergency reserve" of the entire protected area," said the "Land of the Leopard" reserve.
