Due to the intense heat and drought, the bottom of the most famous Agursky waterfall opened in the resort, the height of which is normally 30 meters. In its place, a deep stone pit was exposed, and other waterfalls located upstream of the Agura also disappeared.
- This phenomenon occurs on the territory of the national park almost every summer. Despite the drying up of the surface watercourse, there are a sufficient number of karst faults and channel caves in the Agura River to preserve its unique ichthyofauna, - said Roman Nikonchuk, a leading researcher at the Sochi National Park.
At the same time, experts recommend that tourists observe safety measures on the route and not go down the river bed, it will be filled again when it rains at the resort. Forecasters suggest that this will happen no earlier than the beginning of September, and on September 4, a heavy downpour is expected in Sochi.
