Boars have entered the breeding season, during which males can be aggressive and dangerous.

The press service of Losiny Ostrov said that the wild boar rut lasts from December to January. During the period of the struggle for females, males stop eating, only drink. At this time, they lose fat, gaining life experience and numerous wounds.

In Losiny Island, the wild boar population numbers more than 50 individuals. In winter, in search of food, animals go to settlements and on the territory of garden partnerships. National park officials urge not to attract the attention of these animals. Usually, being in the forest in familiar conditions, they do not show aggression.

However, not only an aggressive male, but also a female with cubs or a frightened animal can pose a threat to people.

When meeting with a wild boar, you need to bypass it or try to climb a tree. These animals do not like noise, so they can be scared away by screaming.

Experts emphasize that in no case should you approach wild boars to stroke or feed. You can't run away from them. When meeting, you should calmly and confidently move in the other direction, while carefully observing the animal.
