Visiting protected areas is no longer free

Entrance fees to parks and green areas, which are classified as specially protected natural areas, will now be charged.

The corresponding decree was approved last week by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The payment for visiting such territories will be less than 1% of the established value of the subsistence minimum of the working-age population as a whole in the Russian Federation per visit for protected areas of federal significance; not less than 0.5% of the subsistence minimum for SPNA of regional significance and not less than 0.25% of the established subsistence minimum for SPNA of local significance.

People with disabilities, participants in the Great Patriotic War, preschool children, low-income families, etc. will be exempted from fees.
