Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov took part in the work of the Russian tourism exhibition MITT. During the session "International Dialogue Russia - Iran" he said that tourism can become a new point of growth in relations between the two countries.
“In the near future we plan to sign a Memorandum in the field of tourism. Already now we see that the interest of tourists to travel to our countries is mutually increasing. We have practically returned to pre-pandemic indicators in terms of tourist flow," the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development quoted Reshetnikov as saying.
He added that according to the results of last year, more than 22,000 Russians visited Iran, and more than 20,000 Iranians visited Russia. The minister stressed that this year the agency plans to move to the implementation of an agreement on visa-free group tourist trips.
The list of tour operators who plan to form such groups among Russians has already been agreed. Interest in this work was shown by more than 60 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, which collected a list of 260 companies. This document has already been handed over to the Iranian side.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation Kazem Jalali, in turn, expressed the hope that in 2023 mutual tourist flows will increase, and in the future the visa regime may be canceled.
Last year, Iran entered the list of leading countries in terms of the volume of tourist flow to Moscow. Tourists from Iran come to Russia mainly for holidays with their families, for cultural and educational purposes, as well as for shopping. Inter-regional tourist routes are also popular among Iranian tourists, which allow you to see several cities in one trip.
