The Vietnam Tourism Association (VTA) has asked tour operators to stop tourists from entering countries heavily affected by Covid-19, including South Korea, Italy, Japan, and Iran.
It is recommended that all tour operators in the country stop organizing tours to these countries until they are declared free from Covid-19. Tours scheduled for February and March should be delayed. Also, tourist groups that have already entered countries affected by the epidemic are recommended to change their schedule, not to visit areas where there are cases of coronavirus infection and crowded places, and strictly adhere to sanitary rules.
Tourists returning to Vietnam from such places must be isolated for 14 days in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam.
According to Huynh Phan Phuong Hoang, deputy general director of Vietravel, the company has already moved some of its tours, as well as its short-term focus on areas less affected by Covid-19, including Western Europe, Russia and the UK. Doan Thanh Tra, marketing director of Saigontourist, Vietnam’s second leading tour operator, said that from that moment until the end of March, the company canceled all South Korean and Japanese tours.
