The head of Rosprirodnadzor Svetlana Radionova in her telegram channel reported that specialists of the Baltic-Arctic Interregional Department are conducting a survey of sunken ships in the waters of the Kola Bay. Such vessels may pose a threat to the environment.
The results showed an excess of the MPC for iron in the area of the location of five vessels. Two of them are listed in the list of the Federal Ministry of Transport as objects for removal. Rodionova noted that it is planned to raise ships from the bottom of the Barents Sea in 2025.
The research was carried out using underwater drones as part of the Global Cleaning project. Inspectors have taken water samples and are clarifying the coordinates of the sunken ships. In total, they will check 22 objects, of which seven have already been examined.
