A new status was given to the promenade along the Sochi River along Constitution Street and the square between Platanovaya Alley and the city administration.

«The main objectives of the creation of protected areas are the protection of the landscape, the conservation of the biological diversity of flora and fauna and the limitation of the reduction in the area of land that is occupied by green spaces. Activities that involve changing the historically natural landscape, destroying the ecological, aesthetic and recreational qualities of the territory are prohibited on the territories of protected areas,» the Sochi administration reported.

The walking area along Constitution Street is planted with plane trees, pines, firs, magnolias and palm trees. In warm weather, oleander bushes bloom here. This place is very popular all year round among residents of the city, families with children and athletes.

In the square, which is located between the city hall and Plane Alley, a large number of ornamental trees and shrubs are planted. Residents of Sochi and guests of the resort can see here adult specimens of Taxodia duplex, camphor cinnamon, as well as four types of palms. The square is located near the busy Navaginskaya Street and has already become a favorite place to relax in the summer.

Last year, the park of the 80th anniversary of the Krasnodar Territory, built in 2017 in the Makarenko microdistrict, received the status of a protected area in Sochi. In total, Sochi has 98 specially protected natural areas, the most famous are Akhun Mountain, Friendship Tree and Boxwood Grove.
