The press service of the national park reported that until June 28, it is forbidden to make fires and carry out fire hazardous work on the Curonian Spit. In addition, visitors are not allowed to walk in the forest outside the ecological trails. Strengthening control is associated with long-term hot and dry weather.
Making a fire, including on barbecues, is also prohibited at a picnic spot near Lake Chaika. Patrol groups will monitor the implementation of the bans. Inspectors will pay special attention to cars parked on the side of the road.
"The administration of the national park appeals to the residents of the Curonian Spit and visitors with a categorical demand to refrain from using open fire, and to all its friends and volunteers with a request to immediately inform about cases of careless handling of fire," the message says.
The national park reminded that smoking is allowed only in specially designated areas within the villages, camp sites and parking lots.
