Torzhok welcomes Maslenitsa with a colorful procession, sleigh rides and a pancake contest

By tradition, the holiday will begin with a bright procession through the streets of the city and continue in the Novotorzhsky Kremlin.

“The festival will introduce you to the ancient Maslenitsa traditions of the neighboring provinces, feed, drink and cheer.

The festive program includes: ancient amusements for children and adults, Russian games and competitions, horseback riding and sleigh rides, men's and women's walls, the capture of a snowy town, craft master classes and round dances, ”the All-Russian Historical and Ethnographic Museum reports on its website.

In the "hearty rows" of the festival guests will be fed with pies, shish kebab, porridge, pancakes with tea from a samovar.

In addition, the organizers promise a Maslenitsa competition "Lord of pancakes" with prizes, a lottery and tasty gifts.
