Portugal will be the best place for pensioners in 2020 following the most important criteria - the cost of living, medical services, climate and the simplicity of settling. This is evidenced by a study conducted annually by the online guide International Living to determine ten most comfortable places in order to enjoy a well-deserved rest.
It is noteworthy that in just a year, Portugal rose from the seventh to the first position - all thanks to the health care system, which scored 98 out of 100 points, and the very reasonable cost of living in the country, which turned out to be one of the lowest in the top ten. Panama, Costa Rica and Mexico followed.
France, despite all the expectations, ranked only nine, ahead of only Vietnam. The cost of living in Paris is generally the most expensive in the top ten countries, but excellent indicators for a number of other important factors helped it to stay on the cherished list. However, life in France is still cheaper than in the United States, according to the 2020 Global Retirement Index.
