The Taimyr prosecutor’s office will deal with the illegal dumping of debris and deforestation on the shore of Lake Lama in the protected zone of the Putorana Nature Reserve. The owner of the base near Lake Lama faces serious punishment, according to the Russian Geographical Society.
Violations were discovered during a planned raid by state inspectors of the Federal State Budgetary Institution «Taimyr Reserves» in the Putorana Nature Reserve.
Specialists were attracted by a large dump of household and technical waste. There, the inspectors found trees cut down for firewood - there are few of them on the Putorana plateau, so the trees are of great value.
To determine the extent of the damage caused to the nature, the specialists took photos and videos, and also drew up a protocol. The documents were transferred to the Taimyr prosecutor’s office.
It should be noted that the employees of Taimyr Nature Reserves check the condition of natural objects on the territory of the Great Norilsk Lakes every summer and tirelessly strive to comply with environmental laws.
Putorana State Nature Reserve is one of the largest in Russia. Its area covers 1,887 thousand hectares. It is located in the Krasnoyarsk Territory on the Putorana Plateau. The lakes of the reserve are the third largest freshwater reservoir in the world, besides Baikal and the Great Lakes in North America. For tourism only the reserve zone is open. However, due to the difficult epidemiological situation, tourists are not accepted here until June 14, 2020.
