The winter ice half marathon Vladivostok Ice Run, which has become traditional, will be held in Novik Bay in the Sea of Japan on Russky Island on February 18, the Tourist Information Center (TIC) of Primorsky Krai reports on its website. The event is held for the eighth time.
“Participants from all over Russia come to Vladivostok for impressions and adrenaline, because this is the only race in the whole world that is held on the ice of the sea,” the TIC noted.
The ice half marathon is a serious test even for experienced participants, it requires strength, endurance and patience.
“In any case, the frozen waters of the Sea of Japan are waiting for everyone who is ready not only to challenge themselves, but also just to have a good time with friends and like-minded people in the open air in an atmosphere of positive and drive,” the TIC noted.
About 1000 participants will take part in the upcoming race. This figure is due to security issues - this is the maximum allowable load on the ice, calculated by the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. And taking into account the fact that there will also be spectators at the event, about two thousand people are expected to be on the ice. All of them will be provided with the most secure conditions.
