The winners of the first finals of the Ecosophy project of the presidential platform "Russia - the Land of Opportunities" will represent the country during the Year of Ecology, which the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has announced for 2024, the chairman of the expert council of the Ecosophy project Vadim Petrov was quoted as saying by TASS during the finals.
"The heads of state declared 2024 as the Year of Ecology at the SCO. This is the main format for the convergence of various technological solutions and the joint use of natural resources, the formation of joint programs for sustainable development, the solution of environmental issues, and much more. Ecosophy is the most important tool for international cooperation <…> It is clear that ecology will become a unifying factor, and the ecological team of the Ecosophy project will provide an opportunity to seriously strengthen both the Year of Ecology and the agenda of cooperation between our countries," Petrov said.
According to him, it is necessary for the SCO countries to form a system of joint talent management – one example of which is the SCO eco-team of the Ecosophy project, that is created after various organizations' principles and using their tools to deal with ecological agenda. At the same time, the project is aimed at developing a positive agenda for joint sustainable development.
During the finals of the competition on Sunday, participants who are part of the first Russian eco-team will fight for the title of eco-leaders. The winners will represent their regions on the national environmental agenda. The finalists are 116 persons from 36 regions of the Russian Federation.
