The main part of the fountains in St. Petersburg began to be closed since the beginning of October. The fountains were first turned off on Moskovsky Square and at the Finland Station, as well as in the suburbs - Peterhof and Kronstadt, the city's tourist portal Visit Petersburg reported in its telegram channel. And on October 17, the complex completed its work.
“Conservation of fountains helps preserve the complex plumbing system when winter comes and frost sets in. With the help of special technical procedures, the water from the fountains is drained, the pipes are sealed, and the devices are prepared for the cold,” notes Visit Petersburg.
According to the portal, 10 fountains were restored last summer, among them the Birth of Aphrodite cultural heritage site, which is located in the garden of Sant Galli. Next year, the city will be decorated with three new compositions - in the Petrogradsky, Vasileostrovsky and Nevsky districts.
