According to the official website of the government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YaNAO), during the action, the banks of the Ob, Pur, Pyakupur, Taz and Nadym rivers were cleared.
"The leader in terms of the amount of waste collected was Novy Urengoy, where more than 900 cubic meters of garbage were collected, in terms of the number of participants - Noyabrsk, 2,540 people were involved in the cleaning," the report says.
"Water of Russia" was held in 40 settlements of Yamal. The action was attended by volunteers, activists, employees of enterprises and administrations, fuel and energy companies, students and schoolchildren - over six thousand people.
“The action takes place annually, but in the Year of Ecology it turned out to be much larger, this is noticeable by the number of participants and the amount of garbage removed,” said the head of the water relations department of the Department of Natural Resources and Ecology of the YNAO Ludmila Blinova.
In addition, the clearing of water protection zones of the Poluy and Shaitanka rivers within the borders of Salekhard continues. The contractor will complete the work by November.
The All-Russian campaign "Water of Russia" is part of the federal project "Preservation of unique water bodies" of the national project "Ecology".
As part of the Year of Ecology, 313 unauthorized dumps have already been removed, an area of 58 hectares has been cleared and more than 60,000 cubic meters of garbage have been removed, the report said.
