The press service of the local administration reported that the total area of created protected natural areas amounted to more than 24,000 hectares. Of these, 17 territories of municipal significance, five more - regional.

"They include the Uspensky Salt Lakes recreational area, which are lagoonal remains of the ancient Sarmatian Sea that existed 6 million years ago. The Caucasian and Chekhrak nature reserves, the Taman Volcanoes natural park, the Akhtar Salt Lakes firth and floodplain complex ", - said the press service.

In total, today there are 428 specially protected natural areas in the territory of the Krasnodar Territory, including 7 federal ones.
