The red book lichen was found on one of the forest sites in Karelia

The press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Republic of Karelia reported that a rare lichen Lobaria pulmonary was found on the territory of a forest plot leased for harvesting wood.

The growth of red book lichen on single aspen trees was confirmed by specialists of the local Ministry of Natural Resources and lichenologists. The Ministry has already sent a corresponding information letter to the tenant of the site about the need to take measures to preserve the plant.

The report notes that at the moment the facts of damage or destruction of red book plants have not been established.
