The International Business Tourism Conference Meet Global MICE Congress will be held in the Russian capital for the first time on October 6. It will be attended by more than 250 representatives of the industry — event organizers, employees of specialized associations, hoteliers and other specialists. This is reported on the website of the Moscow Tourism Committee with reference to the acting Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalia Sergunina.

"Experts from 14 countries — China, India, Qatar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and others - will join the conference. They will talk about the specifics of working with the business tourist flow in their countries and about unlocking the potential of cities," the committee quotes Sergunina.

Foreign participants will get acquainted with the possibilities of the capital and discuss prospects for further cooperation with urban companies that work in the MICE segment. This is an area of the tourism industry associated with the preparation and holding of corporate events.

An extensive program has been prepared for the guests of the conference. For example, during one of the discussions, specialists will be presented with ready-made cases of large-scale events, as well as show how they affect the life and development of entire regions. Negotiations of Russian and foreign companies, as well as open discussions will also take place here, the message says.

A seminar on creating concepts for promoting Moscow as an attractive international platform will be held at the conference.

According to the capital's Tourism Committee, in the six months of this year, the city received more than 10.3 million travelers — this is 22 percent more than in the same period last year.

"The significant contribution of the hospitality sector to the economy of the metropolis is associated, among other things, with the active development of business tourism. Businessmen on trips usually spend one and a half to two times more money than other travelers. They are also accommodated in four-star and five-star hotels. In addition, 40 percent of business tourists return to Moscow after a business trip for the purpose of recreation," the committee noted.
