The "House of Masters" will be created in Buryatia

A "House of Masters" will appear in Buryatia - a space that will unite artisans from all over the republic, the Baikal Tourist Information Center (TIC) reported on its website.

Craftsmen will be able to sell souvenirs there and conduct master classes for tourists.

This decision was made during the days of the Art Buryatia festival. Its main goal is to find interesting works by Republican masters in order to create an authentic line of art souvenirs. The curator of the festival is a famous gunsmith, artist, sculptor and jeweler, founder and head of the International Association of Buryat Gunsmiths Zhigzhit Bayaskhalanov.

From July 28 to July 30, the competition commission examined more than a thousand works from 110 masters from all over Buryatia. As a result, 67 masters were invited to a creative camp on Lake Baikal to listen to lectures from experts, participate in master classes and learn how to improve their souvenirs.

"A tourist, taking a product from Buryatia with him, begins to advertise Buryatia, showing it to his relatives, friends, colleagues. And it is very important for us that the souvenir bears the cultural code of the region, traditions, beauty of Buryatia, and is of high quality," said Aldar Dorzhiev, the Minister of Tourism of the republic.

Zhigzhit Bayaskhalanov noted that today it is very important to create a center where artisans themselves will show master classes to guests of the republic.

"And at the same time, guests will have the opportunity to come and see the whole of Buryatia in one bright place," Bayaskhalanov quotes TIC Baikal.

According to the jeweler-gunsmith, the experience of creating a "House of Masters" should be replicated in those areas of Buryatia where tourist routes pass.

The Art Buryatia Festival is held within the framework of the project "Days of Tourism on the Great Silk Road".
