The Government of the French region Centre-Val de Loire has adopted a project to create a new regional natural park that will unite the communes of the Boischaut natural region, France Bleu news agency reported.
According to the report, a new park to be called South Berry (PNR Sud Berry) will unite the territory between the departments Indre and Cher in the south of the Centre-Val de Loire region.
In mid-May, Michelle Rivet, vice president of the Centre-Val de Loire region, as well as the mayor of Marçais in the Cher department, approved the findings of a study confirming the feasibility of creating a second nature park in Berry, a few kilometers from Brenne.
According to her, this park will unite 133 municipalities.
The creation of the park is reported to not only help preserve the rich local nature, but also attract more tourists to the region.
The project is currently being studied in the prefecture of the region. This procedure may take up to 6 months. This will be followed by a study by experts of the consistency of the project on the ground. Then, it must be submitted to the Federation of Regional Natural Parks for subsequent verification.
In total, the process can take up to six years.
