Railway cruise “Masterpieces of the Russian North. Find out what your Salt is! from St. Petersburg to Solvychegodsk will take place from 20 to 25 July.
This was announced by the Center for the Development of Tourism and Culture of the Arkhangelsk Region.
"In five days, tourists will be able to get acquainted with the spiritual symbols of the Russian North - Vologda, Solvychegodsk, Veliky Ustyug and Yaroslavl, as well as try their hand at folk crafts and crafts," the center's website says.
The cost of the trip includes excursion services, transfers and meals. The train schedule is designed in such a way that tourists arrive in the cities in the morning, and leave for the next point in the evening.
“A special point on the route will be the city of Solvychegodsk in the Arkhangelsk region, which has a rich 530-year history and has more than 32 cultural heritage sites. In addition, the city has been declared the official capital of the Silver Necklace of Russia tourism project for 2023,” the center said.
The program in Solvychegodsk includes a sightseeing walking tour, a visit to the Khaminov House of Merchants and the Annunciation Cathedral. In addition, travelers will be introduced to the metalworking techniques used in Solvychegodsk — basma, filigree, engraving, chasing, enamel, and niello.
The first cruise will be able to welcome up to go 90 people.
