The program is aimed at creating science-intensive technological solutions aimed at studying the climate; mechanisms for adapting to climate change and its consequences, as well as taking measures to reduce the negative impact of gases on the environment, according to the website of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation.

The program includes such areas as monitoring and forecasting the state of the environment and climate; mitigation of anthropogenic impact on the environment and climate; adaptation of the ecological systems of the population and sectors of the economy to climate change.

The expected results of the program are developed, tested and internationally recognized models for the application of low-carbon technologies in the sectors of the economy, as well as technologies for absorbing greenhouse gases.

In addition, a monitoring system for greenhouse gas flows and the carbon cycle will be developed.

“Thanks to the program, methodologies and tools will appear for assessing both environmental consequences and negative impact on humans, a scientific center, a modeling system, and a national technological base,” said Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Alexander Kozlov.
