As the ministry notes on its website, all the prerequisites for the translation of the unique historical and architectural park ensemble of the classicism era of the 18th - the first third of the 19th centuries with elements of later periods in the museum-reserve appeared three years ago, when the museum-estate turned 100 years old.
As the department explained, the difference between reserve museums and other cultural institutions lies in the fact that they manage not only museum objects and collections, but also immovable objects of cultural heritage and the territory surrounding them.
“These include, first of all, architectural, historical and natural monuments that are important for the preservation of historical, cultural and natural heritage. In order to protect them, reserve museums are additionally endowed with a special legal status, which provides for certain regimes for the conservation and use of the territories and objects included in it,” the report says.
Since 2017, Arkhangelskoye has been a particularly valuable object of the cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation. But in terms of land area, historical and cultural significance, the number of objects, the museum had every reason to receive the status of a museum-reserve, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation emphasized.
