The Interfax-Tourism portal reported, with reference to the director of the Department for the implementation of projects in the field of tourism activities of the Ministry of Economic Development Vladimir Trach, that the tourist eco-resort "Magic Baikal" in Buryatia and the Irkutsk region will be able to increase the tourist flow by 900 thousand annually.
The resort is part of the 5 Seas and Lake Baikal project and will include two regional locations – the city of Baikalsk and the Baikal Sloboda near the village of Taltsy.
It is planned to create a new safe modern infrastructure on the territory of the "Magic Baikal". The project provides modern hotel complexes, spas, water parks, yacht marinas, bike trails, eco-trails, congress infrastructure and landscaped beach areas.
During a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Trach said that the first tourists will be able to come to the resort in 2027-2028.
About 40 billion budget funds will be invested in the creation of the resort. It is also planned to attract 109 billion private investments.
