The IV International Marathon "Clean Baikal" will be held on August 12 among the picturesque landscapes of the coast of the Barguzin Bay, the deepest lake on the planet.
"You will enjoy the taiga spirit, the aromas of the wild forest, absorb the energy of Lake Baikal and get incredible emotions. Pleasant surprises are waiting for you on the marathon track, representing the multifaceted culture and flavor of the Republic of Buryatia," the organizers said on the event's website.
The races will be organized over four distances - 42.2 km, 21.1 km, 10 km and 3 km.
In addition, the Ekiden relay (42.195 km) will be held, which will be divided into six stages.
As part of the marathon, a round table on the topic "About Baikal for purity" will be held on August 11 in the village of Maksimikha, which will be attended by eco-activists, organizers of environmental movements and eco-business, representatives of relevant authorities and the scientific community. The main goal is to attract the attention of the Russian and international community to the problems of Lake Baikal.
After the round table, an environmental campaign will be held to clean the territory of the village of Maksimikha and the coastline.
Baikal is the deepest lake on the planet and one of the oldest - it is about 25 million years old. Baikal is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and holds about 20% of the world's fresh water reserves.
The Ministry of Regional Security of the Murmansk Region has developed a draft regulatory act that eases the possibilities of using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for photography and videography
